BC/PNW Dad-friendly Gins

In honor of Father’s Day I wanted to throw together a list of local gins that you might want to share with your Dad, your friends who may be Dads, or just the Dad-like people in your life. If the Dad(s) in your life are anything like mine, gin is not necessarily the top of his list – but here are a few local(ish) suggestions that any non-gin-loving Dad may truly enjoy.

For the Whiskey or Scotch Dad St George Spirits Dry Rye Gin – This gin is based on a rye spirit and is spicy, balanced and gorgeous. it’s not exactly the same as drinking rye, as it has a healthy dose of traditional gin botanicals but the mixture of the two is unique and immensely enjoyable.

For the Outdoors Dad – Stump gin – Close your eyes while drinking this gin and it’s almost like you are on a camping trip. Made from BC ingredients, which is awesome in itself, it’s well-balanced and reminiscent of fir trees and general outdoorsy happiness.

For the Rum Dad – Wayward Spirits Unruly Gin –  This is hands down the gin I’d like to share with my Dad today if I could be there. He doesn’t drink a lot, but he has a penchant for sweeter drinks. Unruly gin’s base spirit is made from honey, so the gin itself, while having some traditional botanicals is smooth, sweet and delicate and very nice to sip just on its own.

For the Dad that actually loves gin – Long Table London Dry Gin – This gin is a great local gin that doesn’t want to be anything but a gin. It’s a well-balanced juniper-forward gin, with nicely orchestrated citrus and peppery spice notes.

Whatever you do, whether or not you’re drinking gin, please take time to let your Dad, and/or all of the Dad-like people in your life, know that you appreciate all that they do. Cheers!
